Founded on March 12, 1885, Arizona State University (ASU) is a public research university located in Phoenix, Arizona. Originally established as a Territorial Normal School by the 13th Arizona Territorial Legislature, ASU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. The W. P. Carey School of Business has maintained accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) for over 60 years.
ASU offers over 400 undergraduate and 450 postgraduate degree and certificate programs across its seventeen schools and colleges. It consistently ranks among the top universities globally, with THE World University Rankings 2024 placing ASU at #182 and the QS World University Rankings 2024 at #179 worldwide.

Arizona State University History
Arizona State University was founded in Tempe as a Territorial Normal School to train teachers for the Arizona Territory. The first Master of Arts in Education was awarded in 1938, and the first Doctor of Education degree was granted in 1954. In 1956, ten non-teaching master’s degrees were approved by the Arizona Board of Regents. In 2015, the Thunderbird School of Global Management became the fifth ASU campus, now known as the Thunderbird School of Global Management at ASU.
